There can be a lot of drama among couponers about ethical coupon use. Serious couponers always want to get the best deals, but also make sure to play by the rules. One coupon sparked a big controversy this week, but resulted in some great freebies!
The coupon in question was for $5/2 Clairol products. The q didn't specify hair color, but it was pretty clear it was intended to be used for hair color. But because it didn't say, people were using it on Clairol Herbal Essences products, which happened to be on sale 2/$5 this week at CVS. When the company was asked about the coupon on Facebook they said it was intended for hair color, but that it was up to the retailer to decide if they would accept it. They said to give it a try, and let the retailer decide.
I already did my CVS shopping this week and had chosen not to use the coupon, but after reading this I went ahead and used it. I got 8 Herbal Essences products completely free!
Here are the other deals I got this week:
1 Softsoap on sale for $2.99, used $2 coupon from CVS machine
1 Tampax Radiant, on sale for $3.99, used $2 mq and got back $1
2 Kotex liners, regular price $1.57, used a coupon for $3/2, so they were $.07 each
1 Colgate travel size multi pack, regular price $3.57, no coupons, got $3 back.
I also used $6 in rewards, so I ended up spending $.69 before tax, and got back $4 in rewards:)
