I am the only person in LA that didn't know that the Science Center doesn't have an admission charge? Now that I know this I wonder how I went all these years without knowing!
I went to today with my son and his friend to see the space shuttle, and we had an amazing time. The shuttle was breathtaking, and the center was full of interesting things to see and do, and most of all to touch. The kids loved all the hands on activities.
Some things to note - parking on site is $10 cash only. You can take the train to the front door and avoid driving all together, which is also an adventure for the kids. The center has a Cafe and a McDonalds on the main floor, but you can bring your own food in. The space shuttle exhibit does have timed entry tickets available, but I paid a $2 service charge for each ticket online and didn't need them. I think these might be more important during the summer when it is busier. You can also purchase IMAX tickets online. There were signs when we arrived that some shows were sold out, so that would probably be best to buy ahead and avoid disappointment.
I also loved that the Natural History Museum is literally next door. We have a membership there too, so we added dinosaur bones and butterflies to the day without any more expense! What a fun day:)
