Fun Spring Craft - Pine Cone Birdfeeders

Here is a craft that can be done by a wide age range, and is perfect for this great warm weather and to welcome in Spring:)

All you need is a large pine cone, some peanut butter, and birdseed or crushed up crackers.  Outdoor set up is definitely preferable!  Have the kids spread peanut butter all over the pine cone (or do this part for them if they are little), and then roll the pine cone in the bird seed or crushed crackers.  Then just tie the pine cone so it hangs from a tree, and you've got a home made bird feeder!  The shape and texture of the pine cone allow the birds to land on it to eat - if it is too accessible from the tree it may become a squirrel feeder, which is not necessarily a bad thing:)

And, just FYI, Vons has got small jars of Skippy on sale with a coupon from the flyer (or online with the Just 4 You program) for only $2.49 a jar:)
