Fire Service Day May 11!!
Fire Service Day is one of my favorite holidays!! All of the local fire stations host an open house on May 11, and each station has events on a different scale. Last year we did the Beverly Hills open house, and they had free hot dogs, fire truck rides, and demonstrations showing how they put out fires and use the giant ladder trucks. It was super busy, but really fun. Some stations have pancake breakfasts, bounce houses, face painting, the list goes on and on! Toddle Tunes is a super fun class for babies and toddlers in the Westwood area. They have a full schedule of classes for different ages, and real musicians that work hard to make the classes funny and entertaining for kids and grown ups. They play real instruments, so the class does get really loud:)

I was given one of the My Very Own Name books for each of my kids, and they are so sweet. They show how the animals came together to choose the child's name, for example the Alligator suggesting an A, the Bear suggesting a B etc. I also love the book they have about the different things a child might grow up to be, in which the illustrations have the kids name (like on the back of a sports jersey or on a truck etc.)

LACMA Free Admission and Family Sunday Projects
I always loved visiting LACMA on the free days each month, until I found out that if you have kids you can all get in free any time! Isn't that great? Just sign your kids up for the NexGen program, and they get in free and can bring an adult free too.
LACMA also has free art projects every Sunday, as part of the Andell Family Sunday series. This month they are doing projects focusing on maps, landscapes, and compasses, and there are some basic crafts for the little kids too:)
I have been wanting to take my kids to the miniature car exhibit as well. There is a huge track with cars that drive and zoom around. My son is 3.5 now, and I think old enough to not be supremely disappointed that he can't touch the cars, just look at them:)
So visit the website to get your kids signed up for NexGen, or just do it at the ticket window on your next trip. My kids got membership cards in the mail a few weeks after we registered by mail.

BARK Book Buddies at Brentwood Public Library May 11
LA Public Libraries are a great source of free events for you and the kids! Check out this one coming up on May 11 in Brentwood. The library actually brings in service dogs, and kids can practice their reading skills by reading to a dog. How awesome is that? Free Music for Kids in Marina Del Rey with David Tobocman

Check out a new park - Holmby Park
Holmby Park is a sweet little park in a nice quiet area. There are 2 playgrounds that cater to different ages, and a nice area behind the sand and slides with picnic benches. It is a great spot for a party or lunch play date!
There is a fence around the street side of the park but the play area is not fully enclosed. My favorite thing about this park is that it has 6 baby swings, so you pretty much never have to wait. Good news for the toddlers!
The park also has a few areas that are shady, and a big grassy area to go for a nice stroll. Main drawback is that the restrooms are back by the golf clubhouse, so it's a bit of a hike. If you have a portable potty I would suggest you bring it and leave it in the car. Parking is free on the street, and usually you can.find a spot pretty close to the playground. Enjoy!

Rite Aid and CVS have Zyrtec on sale for $6 and there is a $6 coupon today, making the 5 count box free.
CVS has Advil Congestion on sale for $4.95, and there is a $3 coupon today. If you have a coupon from the CVS machine for cold and flu purchases this deal is even better. I have one for $3 off a $15 purchase from earlier this year. Remember that CVS will take their own store coupons when they are expired, just let them know ahead of time.
If you have been wanting to get into couponing this week is a great week to start! Just with those 2 coupons you can save $9, and the paper only costs $2 retail. Buy a few and start sorting!!
