Ok, I just bought a stroller on Thursday at Target, and now I find out that all strollers are 25% online, and you can get free shipping! I hate when that happens! But who knows, if I go back to do a price match I might get the discount retroactively. I always find Target customer service to be really helpful. Now I jst need to find the receipt:)

Primary Color Mixing Project
Ever wonder what we couponers do with all this free and cheap stuff from the drugstores? This morning we used foam shave cream and food coloring to experiment with mixing colors to make new colors. Shave foam is a great conduit because the color stays really vibrant, and it is easier to clean up than paint. Just watch that your work space is well protected because food color is not super washable!!

Cheap Pasta & Bras - Must be Target!!
Oh I love the crazy combinations of things I come home with when I shop at Target! Today I went out to buy ANOTHER new stroller (this is my 6th stroller purchase, and I now have 4!!), because the double stroller I had doesn't fit on the sidewalks at the new house. Seriously. I guess I can just figure it into the cost of moving. But, I really need to start walking with both kids contained, and I had a coupon from my mom for 10% your entire purchase at Target. So I get the stroller, but I also see Annie's pasta is on sale for $1 per box, or $.90 after my coupon - I bought 12 boxes. Next I had some Fruit of the Loom coupons (I am still trying to get caught up on my coupons after 2 weeks away), and I needed to buy some underwear for my kids anyway, so I bought those and came across these 3 packs of T shirts, complete with superhero logos, on clearance for $5.98. I used the $1 coupon plus the 10%, so they were only about $4.50 for 3 shirts. I also found some cute shorts for only $3.50 and socks on clearance for $.86. Add on the 10% and that is pretty good!
But my favorite find was the bras. They are normally $15, and were on clearance for $4.48. After the 10% they were like $4 each! And they are so cute! I was actually just checking the Victoria's Secret site to see if the semi annual sale was happening because I kind of need to stock up, so this was perfect timing.

Tiny Chocolate Teddy Bear Cars
These are the cutest thing, and they were so delicious too! A guest at my sister in law's baby shower made them. They are so Pinterest, which I usually find means too much work, but what I liked is they are also cheap to make and kids can totally help with assembly! So they are both a super cool party food idea and a fun (and tasty) project to do with your kids.
If you are a couponer you can buy your bars and M&M's with store rewards, or wait until the Halloween (or after Halloween) sales start up. There are always lots of great promotions in October.
I looked them up so I could paste the assembly instructions below. Most people seem to use melted chocolate to glue the wheels and steering wheel, and cut a slit to push the teddy bear in as the driver. I also pasted a recipe for a "glue" using cocoa and icing sugar. Have fun with these! I might try to design trains for my daughter's birthday, which is a train theme. Just need to figure out what to use for a funnel!!

Directions: |
1 quantity of icing sugar icing paste for glue ( mix half cup of icing sugar and a teaspoon of cocoa powder with a few drops of hot water)
Glue each of the 4 wheels (smarties) on to the sides of the milky way bars. Press into each center a tiny teddy cookie. Glue on an m & m steering wheel for each one. |
We are home!
I am so happy to be back home, and get back to saving money! I had to pay full price for all kinds of things on vacation, like diapers and hair color, and it was so sad:) But our time in Canada was great.
Like I said before I am just moved into a new house, so I am going to be focused on stocking up the pantry with more grocery deals, and getting ready for holiday donations with the drugstore deals. I know a lot of kids are back in school, so I will also focus on museum free days and things to do during the week for those of you with kids not in school yet, and fun weekend and evening activities for those of you with school age kiddos.
I am really excited to get back into saving with a new school year! Only 4 months until the holidays, so let's start saving and shopping for gifts! Fun!

Start saving your milk jugs for a ready cool Halloween craft. It is really cute. They look great lined up along a pathway, by your door or hanging in a line. I saw these last year when we were trick or treating and made a mental note to start saving jugs this year! CVS & Rite Aid this week
Well, as much as I would love to report in with my coupon hauls this week, I am still travelling the lands to north in Canada, where couponing is nearly impossible. Sigh.
